Son of Alice Snyder and Charlie Lawson. He died from a single shotgun wound to the chest during a domestic quarrel with his wife.

An article in the Greensboro Record, May 27, 1969, relates that Mrs. Lawson reportedly told the police that she and her husband quarreled and he threatened her with the shotgun. When she tried to take it from him the weapon discharged. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital and she was charged with murder.

The article states that surviving were his widow, the former Donna Pantalione of the home; his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie C. Lawson; mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. James Overly of Lexington; two sisters, Mrs. Patricia Cockerham and Miss Carolyn Lawson; three brothers, Roger, Thomas E. and Johnny Lawson; four step-siblings; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lawson, and maternal grandmother, Mrs. H.H Snyder.

AFTER NOTE: From the Greensboro Daily News, February 18, 1970: Judge Walter Crissman allowed the nonsuit in the case of Mrs. Donna P. Lawson, 22, who was accused of killing her husband, Carl Hamilton Lawson, by shooting him in the chest with a shotgun. Testimony indicated that Mrs. Lawson shot her husband while the pair grappled for the gun and after he had threatened her life.
