The Grand Entrance…
Monday’s child is fair of face.
Tuesday’s child is full of grace
Wednesday’s child is full of woe. Thursday’s child has far to go
Friday’s child is loving and giving. Saturday’s child works hard for a living
And the child that is born on the Sabbath day. Is bonny and blithe, and good many say.

As the popular 1800’s poem Monday’s child states, Friday’s child is loving and giving. This was very evident long before the birth of Anthony Livingston Rahming. For it was the love between Harold & Emily Rahming nee’ Robinson that gave way to the grand entrance that would occur on Friday, January 6th 1956 at approximately 4:00pm in the afternoon.

Tony as he was affectionately called by family and friends was mannerly, tenacious, and quite ambitious even at an early age. He was also very ingenious and always had an idea or plan. Growing up he always looked for ways to make extra money. He was very close to his brother Peter Higgs, and they would shine shoes in downtown Freeport. Tony would charge twenty-five cents to the workers of Barclays Bank, Bank of Canada, Bahamas Immigration and Bahamas Customs and even the workers at the Police Station. He was well respected and sought after and was the only one allowed in the bank when it was closed.

The Eager Youngster…
Being an avid reader and a keen student helped Tony throughout his life. He began his early education at Mary Star of the Sea Catholic School and then Grand Bahama Catholic High School. He excelled in a myriad of subjects and was very well rounded. His favorites were chemistry, math, history, English language and physical education (just to name a few). His callisthenic abilities were displayed on the basketball and tennis courts and even in the swimming pool. Playing sports and watching sports really brought him much joy.

Finding his way…
With university on his immediate horizon, he was faced with the daunting task of choosing a field to pursue as well as a University that he would call home for the next four years.
Upon consideration, he decided to major in chemistry at Elizabeth City State University, where he would go on to receive his degree. After graduation, he took a short break while he vacillated between Dental studies or Project Management. In the end, project management would become his choice and some two years later he obtained his master’s degree in this discipline.

Love is on the way…
With college behind him, Tony resettled in Freeport, Bahamas after being away at school for some years. His Family was now relocated to Beaconsfield and Tony himself was considering having a family of his own. But, that was put on the back burner as he sought employment. It would come in the capacity of a chemist at a small local up and coming plant, however he would not stay there very long. Freeport Power was seeking a Chemical Engineer and Tony of course fit the bill and was ultimately hired. He would soon become a project manager when that position became available. His tenure at Freeport Power lasted until 2011 after which he became an entrepreneur.

In April of 1983 he had a serendipitous encounter with the lovely Bernadette Dorsette. They courted for two years before “tying the knot” on April 13th 1985. God blessed their union with three lovely children: Stefon, Khassim and Raeven “daddy’s girl.”

The Road ahead…
On August 15 2016 while making his way home, Tony was involved in a very serious car accident. There were no doubts as to how the accident left him-Broken- both physically and emotionally. After the initial assessment of his injuries it was determined that he was paralyzed from the neck down. This began his life as a quadriplegic.
The road ahead for Tony was quite arduous and disconcerting. Dealing with the reality of his physical limitations meant he also had to do therapy away from home and in a foreign land. The next year was consumed with hospital visits, physical therapy and a barrage of medications.
It is often said that you never grow strong until being strong is your only option. During this challenging phase of his life, Tony exhibited exceeding will power and a rather intense desire to walk again. This desire fueled him for a long time.

The Last Mile of the Way…
Between January and December of 2018, Tony had many hospital visits. Sometimes there would be two or more within the same week. But through it all, he held fast to hope and his faith in God deepened as the ferocity of his challenges ensued. In many aspects his life went unchanged, for thanks to modern technology he was one to get around, attend to business and have physical therapy twice per week. Being a keen reader, he always kept abreast on what was happening at home and abroad. (He would sometimes test you to see if you and he were on the same page with regards to current events).

Christmas Day came and went, and the day after he began having respiratory issues which were never completely resolved. His earthly sojourn came to an end on December 27th 2018 at approximately 2:10 pm in the afternoon, a mere 9 days before his 63rd birthdate.
