LIVINGSTON – Funeral services for Edward Eugene Abbey, 83, were held Monday, April 9, 2007, at the Indian Village Assembly of God, with Bro. David Busby and Bro. Garreth Abbey officiating. Burial followed in the Indian Reservation Cemetery. Military honors were provided by VFW Post 8568.
Mr. Abbey died Thursday, April 5, at his residence in Livingston.
He was born July 7, 1923 in Elton, La., the son of Martin and Sarah Battise Abbey. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, attaining the rank of private.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith; his father, Martin Abbey; mother, Sarah Battise; son, Paul Abbey; daughter, Melba F. Moreno; brothers, Wilbur Abbey and Roy Abbey and sisters, Adeline Battise, Ina Maldonado, Cora Abbey and Stella Abbey.
Survivors include his son, Glen L. Abbey; son and daughter-in-law, Ted R. and Mary Abbey; daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia L. and Louis Moreno; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucille and Levete Alexander and Leona and Clem Sylestine; grandchildren, Mark Langley and Kristopher Abbey; 14 other grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Mark Langley, Dustyn Moreno, Marcus Abbey, Kyle Williams, Gilman Abbey and Garrison Abbey. Honorary pallbearers were Kristopher Abbey and James Greenlee.
Cochran Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
