Woodrow W. Ball, Jr.
Woodrow W. “Woody” Ball, Jr., age 77, of Poca, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday December 29, 2018 at Thomas Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Ft. Knox, KY, son of the late Woodrow W. Ball, Sr. and Eileen Mayo Berry Ball. He is also preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Scott Earl Ball; sister, Susan Eileen and her husband, Curtis Smith; two grandchildren Charlie and Jennifer Arthur.
Woody served his country in the US Army Special Forces, US Navy and USMC. He was retired from Monsanto Corporation.
Woody had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He was a great story weaver and teller of tales.
Woody is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Ann; daughters, Naomi Katrina Starling (Ross) of Belpre, OH, Danielle Nicole “Nicki” Philp (Allen) of Chicago , and Karen Patricia Ball of Liberty; sons, William Bradly Ball (Nancy) of Hurricane, Gordon Scott Ball of Poca, and Keith Patrick Ball (Sidney) of Poca; grandson/son, Joshua Witt (Christina) of Fountain, CO; Step sons, Shawn Edward Parsons (Jennifer) of Buffalo, Joshua Michael Parsons (Sarah) of Minnesota, Jeff Ryan Parsons of CO; sisters, Mary Margaret Hutchison (Rosemary) of Brick Township, NJ and Nancy Lee Childers (Jim) of Charlotte, NC; brother in heart, William B. Earl of Montana; twenty seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
A celebration of Woody’s life will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday January 2, 2019 at Snodgrass Funeral Home with Rev. Delbert Hawley officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at the Donel C. Kinard Memorial WV VA Cemetery, Institute, WV.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until service time.
