BOURQUIN, ROSWELL W. "BUD"

Age 73, passed away May 15, 1995. Born in Minneapo-lis, MN, January 14, 1922, but had lived in Michigan from age 10 months. Raised in Detroit, he moved to Lansing in 1948 to work for Oldsmo-bile following graduation from the University of Michigan. His college career had been interrupted by World War II in 1943. He served with the 17th Armored Engineer Battalion, 2nd Armored Division, as a Platoon Commander from Mor-tain, France to Berlin. He was awarded the Silver Star for action in Holland. He met his wife, Ida May Nagel in Texas, when the divi-sion returned to the United States in 1946 after the war. After discharge from the service, they married and he completed his engineering de-gree at the University of Michigan. Recalled to active duty as a Captain for the Korean War in 1951, he served as Engineer Advisor to the Rupublic of Korea's 9th Infantry Di-vision. He was awarded the Com-mendation Medal for service in Ko-rea. In 1983, he retired from Oldsmobile after 35 years of service in Manufacturing Engineering and Manufacturing Management. He was an Eagle Scout and served for a number of years as an adult Scout Leader in Lansing. Surviving are 2 sons, John Robert of Traverse City and Mark W. (Leslie) of Lansing; 2 grandchildren, Robert and Eliza-beth of Traverse City. He was pre-ceded in death by his wife of 47 years, May (1995), and his eldest son, Gayle L."Rusty" (1994). Funer-al services will be held Thursday, May 18, 2 p.m. at the Gorsline-Run-ciman Co. Lansing Chapel, 90© E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, with the Rev. Paul C. Frederick officiating. Interment will follow in Deepdale Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Chapel beginning Wednesday, 2 p.m., where the family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Lung Association of Michigan, 403 Seymour Avenue, Lansing 48933-1179 in memory or Mr. Bourquin.
