Larkin Monroe Travis of Granite Falls died at 6 am today in a Lenoir hospital after an illness of ten days. He was 73 and a retired real estate dealer.
Mr. Travis born in Watauga County August 17, 1880, a son of the late Riley and Edith Perry Travis, is survived by his wife, the former Miss Lula Sigmon; three daughters, Mrs. Carson Triplett, Mrs. Fred Turnmyre and Mrs. A.C. Dula, all of Granite Falls; four sons, Glenn of California, James of Newport News, VA, Clifton and Earl of Granite Falls; one brother, James Travis of Granite Falls; two sisters, Mrs. Nora Sherrill and Mrs. Delia Triplett of Hickory; seventeen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The body is at the Mackie Funeral Home, where funeral arrangements were incomplete this afternoon.
