Ron and Hallie moved to St. George, Utah, where they pursued their passion for Texas-style barbeque and started Pappi’s Texas Barbeque. This endeavor took them to many chili cook-off contests, State Fairs and Mountain Man Rendezvous along with many other events that they catered. Ron was well known and had won many awards for his famous chili. Their St. George home was beautiful and the two enjoyed spending time together, working in their yard.
In 2012, their family moved the couple back to Salt Lake in 2012 to spend their remaining years among their children and grandchildren. Sadly, Hallie passed away in September 2015 and Ron missed her every day since. In addition to his wife, Ron was predeceased by his parents, brother, Robert Newsome, son-in-law, Mike Heaps, granddaughter, Theresa Huggard, and grandsons, Derick Dobson and Michael Newsome.
