DICKEYVILLE, WI – Richard A. Adams, age 84 of Dickeyville, passed away Monday, December 10, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 21, 1934 on the Adams’ family farm, the son of Frank and Elizabeth (Riniker) Adams. Richard married Janis A. Bass on December 29, 1956. In 1957, he was drafted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in France. Together, Richard and Janis farmed on the Adams’ family farm in South Lancaster Township. He was employed at John Deere Dubuque Tractor Works for over thirty-one years. Richard was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Dickeyville.
Richard is survived by his wife, Janis; their children: Linda Clauer, Lyle and Randy (Pam) Adams; eleven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Jerry Weber; his sisters: Delores Hosch, Rosemary Schultz, Cecelia (Charles) Breihan; sisters-in-law, Ruth Adams and Charlene Bass; a brother-in-law, Robert “Buzz” Bass; and his dog, Brewster.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his daughter, Julie Weber; a son, Joey Adams; brothers: Bob, Mark (Jean), Francis, and Thomas Adams; sisters: Marion (William) Reeg, Virginia (Clement) Wall, Marjorie (Bill) Hoffman, and Kathleen Adams; great-grandson, Brayden Robertson; brothers-in-law: Leonard Hosch, Maurice Schultz, and Jack Bass; sisters-in-law: Vivian (Roger) Garner, Doris (Justin) Donovan, and Donna Bass.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Fr. William Vernon and Fr. Bernie Rott officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Friends and family may call on Thursday, December 13, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. The Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory of Lancaster is serving the family.
