Interment was a private family service in the Rehobeth United Methodist Church Cemetery on Saturday, December 8, at 12:30 P.M. The funeral service followed at 1:00P.M. in the church sanctuary, conducted by Senior Pastor, Rick Marson and Reverend William Gattis, nephew of Ruby Rives.
Shag, 94, was the son of Landon and Sankie Dunn Rives of Goldston, N.C. After graduating Goldston High School he worked for a short time with his father. When he was 18 years he volunteered for the U.S. Army. He served in the European Theatre until WW II ended in 1945. He moved to Greensboro and later became General Manager of Phillips Esso.
Shag's survivors were his wife Ruby, daughter-in-law Anne Rives, granddaughter Heather and grandson Dean Severino, and sister-in-law Dorothy Rives. His son Donald and brother Henry are deceased.
