A native of Coteau and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Babineaux was known for his story telling and his dry wit. Mr. Lawson grew up on a farm in Coteau and over-looked his farm as the years went by. He was a school bus driver for almost 50 years.
He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1208 and a Fourth Degree Knight of the Monsignor J. M. Langlois Assembly. He was also an avid hunter.
He was survived by three sons, Allen J. Babineaux and his wife, Claire Fasullo Babineaux, of Lafayette, La., Lawson P. Babineaux Jr. and his wife, Linda Gonsoulin Babineaux, of Lafayette, La., and Craig C. Babineaux and his wife, Gay Thibodeaux Babineaux, of Lafayette, La.; one daughter, Elaine Babineaux Hebert and her husband, Gabriel Hebert Jr., of New Iberia, La.; four sisters, Angelle B. Freeman, Verna B. Patout, Joyce B. Indest and Harriet B. Shea, all of New Iberia, La.; a special friend, Lily D. Vincent, of New Iberia, La.; 12 grandchildren; and 16 greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearly Segura Babineaux; his parents, Alcee L. Babineaux and Aline Theriot Babineaux; three brothers, Andrew J. Louis L. Babineaux Sr. and Pierre Babineaux; three sisters, Elise B. Broussard, Vivian B. Myers and Martrine B. Gastineau; and a twin grandson, Stuart Wayne Hebert.
Pallbearers were Guy, Steven and Scott Hebert, Joel and Jake Babineaux and David Broussard.
