FLORENCE, SC - William "Ricky" Beard, 68, known to family and friends as "Big Daddy", passed November 7, 2018, at McLeod's Hospice House from a recent illness. He was born in Turbeville, SC, and is the son of the late Junius and Ina Lou Beard. He spent many years as a heavy machine operator for local construction companies. Big Daddy was also a local bartender/owner and cook. He served many meals and drinks over the years in business and for charity. He is survived by his daughter, Karen Gandy of Florence and his grandchildren, Dylan Gandy, Mattie Gandy, and Amber-Lee Odom of Florence, and a former wife, Judy Ard. Special friends are John and Emma-Jean Morrison of Florence, and Brenda Gardner, and a host of friends and family, some by blood others by love. Services will be held Monday, November 12, 2018, at The Shrine Club of Florence located at 3053 Crescent Circle, Florence, SC, at 10 am. Weather permitting, a memorial motorcycle ride will follow. A reception will be held following to allow visitation with the family until 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the funeral fund. Cremation services handled by Myrtle Beach Funeral Home & Crematory.
