Norman P. "Norm" Rowe, 70, of Avilla, passed away on Tueday Nov 6, 2018 in Auburn. He was born on Dec 11, 1947 in Kendallville to the late Paul and Evelyn (Housholder) Rowe. He was a US Army veteran. On July 30, 1982, he married Rita Powell. She preceded him in death on May 11, 2018. Norm retired from Western Southern Life Insurance Company after a long career in insurance. He served in various positions including Commander of Avilla American Legion Post #240 and was very involved with the Honor Guard, was active with the Avilla Fire Department serving as department secretary for many years. In his free time, Norm enjoyed golfing, hunting, and watching IU Basketball and Notre Dame Football. He is survived by children, Joe (Lori) Blotkamp of Avilla, Mitch (Deb) Blotkamp of Avilla, Brent Blotkamp of Fort Wayne, Jan Bryant of Angola, Rhonda (David) Dye of Avilla, Suzy (Terry) Campbell of Albion, and Stacy (Chris) Pattee of Wolcotville. Also surviving are grandchildren, Kelsey (Jake) Stambazze, Courtney Blotkamp, Tiffany (Rex) Rawles, Jessica (Josh) Harner, James (Trinity) Bryant, Nate (Lindsay) Dye, Eric Dye, Stephanie Dye, Dirk Likes, Brook (Morgan) Likes, Houston Pattee, Spencer Pattee and Grant Pattee, and many great grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers, Lynn (Nancy) Rowe of Avilla, and Gene (Terry) Rowe of Avilla; and nieces and nephews, Misty Sage, Lindy Robinson, Kyle Rowe, and Kevin Rowe. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter Devin. Funeral service is 2:00pm Monday November 12, 2018 at Harper Funeral Homes, Avilla Chapel, 530 N Main St., with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 4-8pm Sunday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Avilla.
