LYON MOUNTAIN - Robert C. Dowd 57, died Friday morning at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born Aug. 15,1924, in Lyon Mountain, the son of William and Catherine (Alexander) Dowd. Mr. Dowd was a veteran of World War II and retired from Republic Steel in Lyon Mountain. Survivors include his wife, the former Marjorie Barnes; two sons, Robert E. Dowd of Plattsburgh and William J. Dowd of Merrill; one daughter, Donna Dowd of Chazy Lake; two brothers, James Dowd of Merrill and Bernard Dowd of Albany; one sister, Mrs. Clayton (Alice) Poitras of Nashua, N.H.; and two grandchildren. Calling hours will be at St. Bernard’s Convent in Lyon Mountain from 2 m 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Bernard's Church in Lyon Mountain. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Instead of flowers, the family asks donations be given to the Lyon Mountain Ambulance Fund. Arrangements are by the Chateaugay Funeral Home.
