MYRTLE BEACH | John J. Abbott, 76, of Myrtle Beach Golf and Yacht Club, died Thursday, Mar. 30, 2006.

Born May 3, 1929 in Dorchester, Mass., he was the son of the late John F. and Irene Stipinski Abbott.

Surviving are his wife, Carmella; sons, John (Lori) Abbott Jr., Stephen (Beth) Abbott and David Abbott; and four grandchildren, Ryan, Christopher, Nicole and Jenna Abbott.

Mr. Abbott attended both Northeastern and Northwestern Universities. He was a sales manager for McQuay International Ventilation Products in Minneapolis, Minn.

He was a parishioner of St. Michael's Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. As a veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of the American Legion. He was an avid golfer and Philadelphia Eagles fan.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at St. Michael's Church in Garden City. Father Ray Carlo will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Michael's Church Building Fund, 542 Cypress Ave., Garden City Beach, SC 29576.

Grand Strand Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the family.
