Mrs. Josephine Carney, 87, of 115 Tenth street, died at the St. Joseph's hospital at 5:30 o'clock yesterday evening following a lingering illness. She was the widow of James M. Carney, who preceded her in death over 32 years ago. She was born the daughter of Eli and Indiana (McCombs) Watts in Cass county on November 20, 1859.

Survivors include: one daughter, Mrs. Harry 0. Schmitt, 115 Tenth street; one son, Charles, 705 1/2 North street; two grandchildren, Mrs. Helen Louise Good of East Meadows, Long Island, New York; German Schmitt, 2105 High street; our great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Charles Nethercutt of Olympia, Washington.

Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the McCloskey-Hamilton funeral home chapel with the Rev. J. Virgil Siberal in charge. Burial will be in the Crooked Creek cemetery. The body will remain at the funeral home and friends may call after 2 o'clock Wednesday.
