Joe Lynch was an Irish actor, entertainer, comedian and singer. He hailed from Cork city but worked mainly in Dublin within Ireland's national TV and radio network RTÉ (Raidió Teilifís Éireann) studios and in the UK - retiring to Alicante, Spain in his later years.

He appeared in many television series over the years and had some movie roles in the 1960's (Including "The Siege of Sidney Street" in 1960 and "Johnny Nobody" in 1961). His most recognised and famous role was his portrayal of the farmer Dinny Byrne on the long running Irish television series Glenroe. He also appeared in the UK television series Coronation Street in various episodes.

On stage and in theatres, he portrayed a wonderful singing repertoire and composed songs to accompany his routine. His comedic acts were original and quintessentially Irish but he did put on a good British accent and mannerisms when needed in roles he played.

According to the the Irish Times newspaper - ( Fri, Aug 3, 2001, 01:00 am) - he was cremated in Alicante Spain. The title of the Irish Times article is "Stage and screen star Joe Lynch to be cremated in his adopted home of Alicante".
