Roy was living in Shawnee, when he enlisted in the Marines 1 May 1968, at a Oklahoma City Recruiting Office.
Arriving in Vietnam 13 January 1969, Roy was assigned to Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. The battalion was participating in Operation Purple Marine in the vicinity of LZ Amy (Hill 484) and 14 kilometers of Ca Lu Airfield. Charlie Company was
conducting a search and clear patrol there, when they encountered hostile forces. Roy died as a result of a hostile gunshot wound to the body.
Survived by his children, Tammy K and Sherry A Lynn in care of their mother, Patricia Lynn of 1312 E Parker St, Shawnee and his father; Lowell W Lynn of 1313 E Parker St, Shawnee and his mother; Maxine P Saten of 382 9th St NE, Atlanta, GA.
