John Fredrick Barthels, age 75, passed away on Tuesday morning September 18, 2018 at Theda Clark Medical Center. John was born in Oshkosh on April 8, 1943 the son of Rufus and Erna (Abraham) Barthels. He married Linda Jane (Schultz) on October 17, 1992. John was employed at Pluswood in Oshkosh for 35 years as a material handler. John was a member of the Elks Club in Oshkosh and also the Otter Street Fishing Club. John served his Country in the Army National Guard for 6 years. John is survived by his wife Linda of Oshkosh. Step daughter Jennifer (Scott) O’Brien of Neenah. Step grandchildren Tyler, Cory, Kaitlyn, Kiara and Brayden. One step great grandchild Bryson. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Kenneth and one sister Ruth. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 1 pm at the Fiss & Bills Funeral Home at 865 S. Westhaven Drive. Oshkosh, WI 54904. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 4 to 8 pm and also on Friday at the funeral home from 12 noon until 1 pm. Rev. Paul Lidtke will officiate.
