George Adam Brentzel, 96, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Baptist Health Louisville.

Mr. Brentzel was born February 2, 1922 in Louisville, KY, son of the late George Adam Brentzel, Sr. and Caroline Kelhetter Brentzel.
Mr. Brentzel was a World War II veteran serving as a Combat Engineer in the European Theatre with the 30th Infantry Division. He was a graduate of Ahren's Trade School. He spent his career as an accountant, 20 years at Gold Proof Elevator and retired from Smith Transfer Corporation in 1987.

Mr. Brentzel and his family enjoyed many years on the water, sailing and boating at Dale Hollow Lake. He was also a life long member of The Church of the Advent.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Edith Jesse VanCleave Brentzel and his brother and sister, Joseph Brentzel and Charlotte Knight.

Mr. Brentzel is survived by his children, George Allen Brentzel (Theresa), Stewart Brentzel (Cathy), Vicki Brentzel Luckett and David Brentzel (Sally). He also leaves behind seven grandchildren and nine great grand children.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Episcopal Church of the Advent, 901 Baxter Avenue with burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Bosse Funeral Home, 1355 Ellison at Barret Avenue.
