Lloyd Eugene Oswald left this frail existence on September 15, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.He was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, on April 3, 1929, to Zoe Mill and August G. Oswald. He learned the value of hard work at an early age as his father died when he was 10, leaving Lloyd and his brothers to run the family farm. After graduating from high school, he moved to Friona, Texas, where he farmed with his brother-in-law, Herman Neff. While there he was drafted into the army and served in Japan and Korea.
He returned to Idaho in 1956, where he married Marjorie Burgess in the Idaho Falls Temple. In 1963 they moved to Utah where he worked in the grocery business and then as an airline agent.
Lloyd was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings over the years. He enjoyed working in his yard and garden, golfing and helping his neighbors. He will be missed by his family and many friends and neighbors.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marjorie; 7 children; 23 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren: Bradley E. Oswald (Suzanne) of St. George; Kevin L. Oswald (Sandra) of Bountiful; Sherri Flynn of Corinth, TX; Darrell E. Oswald (Holly) of Taylorsville; Craig L. (Paulina) of West Valley City; Marie Stewart (Kerry) of Heber City; and Laura von Niederhausern (David) of Hyde Park.
Preceded in death by a son-in-law Leland R. Flynn, II; a grandson-in-law, Jesse Owen; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Oswald.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 19th, 6:00-8:00 p.m., at the Granger West Fourth Ward, at 3305 South. Scottsdale Dr., West Valley City. Funeral service will be Thursday, September 20th, at the Granger West Fourth Ward at 11:00 a.m, with a viewing prior to the services at 9:30-10:45 a.m. Interment will be at Utah Veterans Memorial Park , 17111 South Redwood Rd., Bluffdale, Ut, 84065.
