Mr. Charles W. “Buck” Oxford, 67, of Splitlog, Missouri, passed peacefully at home on Friday evening, May 29, 2015, with his wife and children beside him, after a short illness.

Buck entered this life on November 25, 1947, in Benton County Arkansas, to the late Lemuel A. and Juanita (Secrest) Oxford. He grew up in the Jane area and was a lifelong resident of McDonald County. He married Pat Barnes and February 18, 1966 and to this union two children were born. Buck was a well driller for over twenty years before becoming a rural letter carrier. He eventually retired from the Postal Service in 2008. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Buck’s greatest joy was children and over the years he “adopted” several into his heart. He loved spending time with kids of all ages, teaching and learning from them.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two siblings, Clara and Lon.

Buck is survived by his wife, Pat Oxford of the home; two children, Tony Oxford of Splitlog and Lisa Hodson and husband, Lee, of Anderson; two grandchildren, Whitlee Hodson and Tanner Hodson; two sisters, Betty Stewart and husband, Dewell, of Gravette, Arkansas and Mae Sutherland and husband, Clyde, of Jane, Missouri; several nieces and nephews, numerous “adopted kids”, as well as a host of other family and friends.

Memorial services for Mr. Oxford are 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2015, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastor Marilyn O’Brien officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. On-line condolences may be sent to the family through our website www.ozarkfuneralhome.com.
