Ashly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and retired from Olin Corporation.
He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Bishop; mother, Edna Brown; siblings, Harold Bishop, Marvin Bishop, Barbara Gillespie, and Glenda Cantrell; and granddaughter, Shawna Scarberry.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Bishop; children, Russell Bishop (Melinda), Cathy Baker (Stoney), Susan Bishop, and Christopher Bishop (Shannon); grandchildren, Latisha Neal, Justin DeBord, Travis Scarberry, Melanie Bishop, Ashley Bennit (Kaysee), Victoria Eden Bishop, Christina Alliff, Rebekah Bishop, and Natilee Bishop; and seven great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12 in Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery with Pastor Charles Shelton officiating. A funeral procession will leave at 1:30 p.m. from Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
