Spec. 4 Wayne Dabney McRay of 1 Pine Grove Trailer Court was killed in an ambush at Tay Ninh, Vietnam, close to the Cambodian border on Feb. 14. He was 22. Born in Charlottesville on Jan. 3, 1948, he was the son of Mrs. Margaret Goff Pace and James E. McRay Sr. of Charlottesville. His stepfather is Franklin A. Pace.

He graduated from Lane High School in June 1968, and was employed at K-Mart until he entered the Army in December 1968. He served in Vietnam for nine months.

Besides his parents, he is survived by a brother, James E. McRay Jr. of Walnut Cove, NC; a half-brother, Thomas Eddie McRay of Charlottesville; and a half-sister, Sharon Sue McRay of Charlottesville.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Holly Memorial Gardens. Preddy-Teague Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
