Dennis Lee Dukes, 72, born August 17, 1945 in Columbus, Georgia to the Late Johnnie Dukes and Bessie Faulkner-Dukes, has passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones August 14, 2018. He worked with the Huddle House Corporation for 15 years before he retired. Dennis would want us to remember the good times that we had and not dwell on the bad. Make a difference where we are and keep moving forward.
He had a passion for his Brothers from the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of Barnett Lodge No. 43 F&AM, Live Oak, FL. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Jacksonville, FL belonging to the Knights of St. Andrews. He was of York Rite and a Shriner of Morocco Temple in Jacksonville, FL.
While he was a Shriner he had the best time participating in parades driving his roadster as a member of the Live Oak Roadsters and Live Oak Shrine Club.
He enjoyed golf with friends at the Madison Country Club. He was an avid hunter and spent many hours in tree stands with his grandchildren. He loved Archery and bowhunting. He would attend area bowhunting tournaments and was very skilled with his compound bow.
Dennis leaves behind a loving wife of almost 47 years, Beatrice (Bea); two daughters, Ginger (Richard) Eggers and Denny Lee (Chuck) Tompkins, one son, Kenneth (Shanna) Dukes, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, three fur babies, a sister and brother-in-law, Ginny and Dan Crews.
A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, August 18th, 2018 at the Wellborn Baptist Church, 4146 Lowe Lake Road, Wellborn, FL. Pastor Rick McCall, officiating.
Masonic Church Services were conducted by Worshipful Master, Thomas McKinney and Right Worshipful David Lane of Barrett Lodge No. 43 F&AM. Many Brothers from area Lodges, Scottish Rite and Morocco Temple came to pay their respects.
