Janet "Jan" Lavern Ellison Adams, age 48, a resident of Greenville, NC, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at Pitt Vidant Medical Center. Ms. Adams was born in Lenoir County, NC on August 28, 1967 to the late Henry Willie and Verna Lee Mills Ellison. She was a graduate of Shaw University and was a member of Present Truth Ministries in Kinston, NC. Janet was an instructor in the Health & Science Dept at Pitt Community College. She was formerly married to Roy Fletcher Adams, who survives, and he remained her caregiver, along with her sisters, until her death. In addition to Fletcher, she is survived by her son, Spencer Roy Adams of Fayetteville, NC; her brother, Alvin Mills of Greenville, NC; her sisters Phyllis E. Shackleford of Kinston, NC, Gloria E. Dixon of Grimesland, NC, Sheila L. Ellison of Grifton, NC and Wanda E. Carr of Jacksonville, NC, her mother in law, Annie D. Adams of Grifton, NC. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Donnie B. Ellison. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2015 at Evergreen Memorial Estates in Grifton, NC officiated by Apostle Daniel Williams. The family will have a private visitation at Hillside Funeral Service. Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, 4500 Hwy 264 E, Washington, NC has been given the honor of being entrusted with serving the Adams' family.
