Katherine P. Swingle, Lake Ariel, died after an illness Thursday afternoon in Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, surrounded by her family. She was the widow of Carleton F. Swingle.

Born 1925 in Ledgedale, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Pearl Brown Brink. She had been a member of Lake Ariel United Methodist Church. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed by Cove Haven Resort in the housekeeping department.

Surviving are daughters, Darlene Lutz, of Texas, and Rosemary Tregaskis of South Canaan; a son, Mark, of Lake Ariel; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Ronald, and a daughter, Caroline; siblings, Robert, Raymond, Warren, Donald, Benjamin, Annabelle Esgra and Margaret Henneforth.

The family will hold a graveside service officiated by the Rev. William Rushik in the Salem Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.
