In addition to his parents and sister, Kolby is survived by his twin niece and nephew and his beloved dog.
He is also survived by Lil' Grandma, Big Grandma and Papa, aunts and uncles, and his cousins. In addition, Kolby is survived by many extended family members and many, many friends.
Kolby lived in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma his entire life. He attended Broken Arrow Schools and was a 2013 graduate of Broken Arrow High School. Growing up, Kolby enjoyed playing baseball with his dad as an assistant coach as well as playing soccer, being a member of the Boy Scouts, taking Taekwondo and guitar lessons. As he got older, he loved fishing, hunting, golfing and hanging out at the beach in his Jeep with all his buddies. Throughout his young life, he was an active member of his church, First United Methodist, Broken Arrow, where he attended many Vacation Bible Schools, youth groups and participated in camps and mission trips to many areas of the United States. Kolby always had an ear for music. Upon entering middle school, he began playing the trumpet. This continued briefly into high school where he became a member of the Pride of Broken Arrow Marching Band. Kolby was skilled and loved to make and build things. While in high school, he attended Tulsa Tech taking classes in Carpentry. He built many things but his most prized possession was a boat which he finally was able to take out on the lake with only a few minor leaks. Kolby loved this boat and fiercely protected it from being sent to the trash on many occasions.
In January 2014, Kolby joined the United States Marine Corps. After completing Boot Camp in San Diego, CA, he was stationed in Norfolk, VA, Okinawa, Japan and Camp LeJeune, North Carolina. He was a Corporal in the 1st Battalion 2nd Marines 2nd Marine Charlie Company where he served as an 0311 Infantryman. He recently returned from a deployment with Task Force Southwest in the Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
Kolby brought a smile to everyone he met and loved his family and friends very much. He was always willing to help anyone he could. His energy was contagious and he lived each day to the fullest. It is that smile and sweet face that his family will miss the most.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Mission22 (mission22.com) in honor of our sweet Kolby.
We would like to thank everyone for their outpouring of love during this time and especially to the United States Marine Corps who have been extremely supportive during this time. We appreciate your many acts of kindness as well as your prayers. We are comforted in knowing that our beloved Kolby is now fully happy and resting in the sweet arms of Jesus. We look forward to the day we are reunited with him.
