Thomas Hyrum "Hy" Callister, 85, died March 22, 2001 in American Fork, Utah. He was born February 14, 1916 in Groveland, Idaho to Orson Pratt and Annie Francella Jones Callister. He married Alice Idonna Porter January 30, 1938, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Alice died May 29, 2000.

Hy graduated from Groveland High School where he, along with his brothers, was active in competitive sports. He lettered in football, basketball and track while attending Utah State University and later graduated from the University of Utah with a BA in Education. He accepted a teaching fellowship at UCLA and also taught at Coronado High School before joining the FBI as a Special Agent where he served for over 30 years.

After retiring in 1970, he served as a member of the San Diego County Grand Jury and Chairman of the Public Safety Committee. He was also a member of the Coronado Men's Golf Club, where he served on the Board of Directors.

Hy was a terrific husband and father who spent quality time with his children teaching them life skills. He was a great example of integrity and a positive attitude. We all have wonderful memories of time spent with Hy, wish him well on his new adventure, and send our love along with him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Idonna, three brothers and a sister. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, American Fork. Interment, Alpine Cemetery.
