Frank Abatangelo, 82, formerly of Lakewood-Balmoral area, retired structural engineer and partner at Abatangelo-Hason, Ltd., passed away peacefully May 7, 2011.

After serving in the U.S. Army, Frank earned his architecture degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Beloved husband of 50 years to Jane Middleton Abatangelo; cherished father of Laurie (David) Key, and Anthony (Ann) and David (Joan) Abatangelo; very proud and loving "Papa" of Emma Johnsen, and Casimir, Conal, Sophia and Peter Abatangelo; brother of Vito (the late Barbara) Abatangelo.

A celebration of Frank's life is being held Saturday, May 28, 11 a.m., at Unitarian Church of Evanston, 1330 Ridge Ave., Evanston, IL 60201. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60601, 312.335.8700, or www.alz.org.
