Joseph J. Coreschi

Edison - Joseph J Coreschi, 86, of Edison, NJ died Thursday, August 2, at Alcoeur Gardens in Brick, NJ. He was born and raised in Manhattan, and lived in Brooklyn, NY for a short time before moving to Edison in 1968.

He served in the U.S. Air Force in in Korea, and was honorably discharged. He worked while attending night school, earning his Bachelor's degree in Accounting at Pace University. Upon graduation, he worked as an Accountant with Dearing Milliken for 2 years and then American Home Products (later bought by Pfizer) where he retired in 1995 as assistant controller.

He was a parishioner of St Francis Cathedral in Metuchen, and served the church in many capacities over the years, including Parish Council president, Bingo cashier, and finance committee member. He loved to sing, and was a founding member of the St Francis Choir, where he was elected as the first choir president.

He loved spending time with his family.He was a lifelong Yankees fan, and attended many games as a youth.

He was predeceased by his parents, Angiolina (nee Testa) and Giuseppe (Joe), and his brothers-in-law Matthew Martin and Edwin (Mickey) Johnston . He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Diane (neeJohnston) of Edison, his adoring children Patricia Coreschi of Edison and Peter Coreschi and his wife, Jessica, of Metuchen and his grandchildren, Angelina, Peter Jr and Michaela, his brother Charles of Brooklyn, sisters-in-law Virginia Joyce of Brooklyn, Joyce Martin of Edison, and Carol and husband Robert Dery of Pompano Beach, FL and many nieces and nephews.

The Funeral will be held Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at 9:45am at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave. (Rt.27), Metuchen (costello-runyon.com), followed by a 10:15am Funeral Mass at St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen.

Interment is in Hillside Cemetery, Metuchen.

Visitation is Monday 2-4 and 7-9.
