He was united in marriage to Connie Harshbarger on June 29, 1968 at First Christian Church in Nebraska City. Roger served in Vietnam with the Army Security Agency and was honorably discharged on December 3, 1973. He and Connie made their home in Syracuse where they raised their family. He worked as a Tool & Die maker for 27 years in Auburn at ACI/Ariens.
Roger had a love of genealogy and cemeteries and was proud of his contributions to Find A Grave (https://www.findagrave.com/user/profile/46952391) , where he had posted more than 11,000 photos, added almost 6,000 memorials and was able to pass more than 1,400 memorials over to families in search of their history. He also had a love for working with his hands, be it woodworking projects or home improvements, as well as an affinity for raising orchids and other plants. He was also very fond of his cats.
Roger is survived by his Wife: Connie Newby; Son: Jason Newby & fiancé Angie Muller; Daughter Kate (Chad) Borner; Granddaughters AnnaSophia and Keira Borner all of Syracuse; Brother: Ronald (Sharon) Newby of Nebraska City; Sister-in-Law Kathryn Schneider of Omaha; nieces, nephews many cousins and friends, and Beloved Dog: Tucker.
He was preceded in death by his Parents; Infant Brother: Robert Newby; Infant Half-Sister: Dorla Fry and Parents-in-Law: Kenneth and Anna May Harshbarger.
