Obituary of Magdalene "Maggie" Gabriel Gebhart

Faulkton - The funeral service for Magdalene "Maggie" Gebhart, 77, of Faulkton, was Wednesday at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Faulkton. The Rev. Randy Phillips officiated.
Burial was in the church cemetery with Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton in charge of arrangements.
She died of natural causes Monday, March 06, 2000, at her winter home in Pharr, Texas.
Magdalene Gabriel was born Jan. 20, 1923, to Michael and Theresa (Dischoff) Gabriel at Onaka. She graduated from Onaka High School and received a teaching degree from Northern State Teachers College. She taught briefly in the Onaka area.
She married Roman Gebhart on May 6, 1944, in Norman, Oklahoma. After her husband's military service, they moved into Faulkton. They lived and farmed on the Gebhart homestead. He died in 1986.
She was active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and held numerous local, state and national offices, the local American Legion Auxiliary, the St. Thomas Catholic Daughters of America and the Domesti-Kates Extension Club. She was a 4-H club leader for many years and was a local and state handicraft judge until her death.
She will be remembered for her German speciality foods and other creative recipes.
Survivors include three sons, Nick Gebhart of Phoenix,, Dan Gebhart of Seattle, and Richard Gebhart of Portland, Oregon; three daughters, Gloria Lancrain of Rathdrun, Idaho, Marty Gebhart of Glendale, Arizona, and Darcy Martin of San Diego; one sister, Eva Harris of Lorton, Virgina; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and three sisters.
