Judith Ann McLean Barrero, age 67, loving wife of Dr. Ezequiel F. Barrero, died at Saint Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport, CT, following a courageous 12 year battle with cancer. During this time her powerful will and determination served as an inspiration to others facing similar struggles. Judi was born in New Rochelle, N.Y. to Anita Barbara McSherry and Malcolm McLean. She was a graduate of Penn Hall now known as Wilson College in Pennsylvania. Judi met her husband Dr. "Chicho" Barrero at North Shore Community Hospital in Manhasset, Long Island, where she was working as a medical secretary in the radiology department. They were maarried shortly thereafter. He then decided to practice internal medicine in his homeland of Spain. Judi spent three-and-one half years in Spain, where both her children were born. "I'm the foreigner in the family" she said once with a smile. She and her family were long time residents of Fairfield County, CT, having resided in Trumbull, Westport and most recently Stratford. For 30 years, she worked as an office manager for Dr. Ivan S. Cohen in Fairfield's Brickwalk. Judi's lifelong devotion to her family, friends, community and numerous local charities brought her great joy. She served as president of the Auxiliary of Park City Hospital, was on the Board of Directors of the Fairfield Christmas Tree Festival, the Ahlbin Center, where she was recognized for her dedication, and United Visiting Nurses. Many of her lasting friendships were with fellow members of past and present clubs she belonged to including Black Rock Yacht Club, Patterson Country Club, Oronoque Country Club, Fayerweather Yacht Club, Spanish Wells Country Club, and the Gaelic American Club. Judi loved traveling the world, gardening, classical music, spending time with friends and family and serving others. Her exuberance for life was infectious. In addition to her devoted husband of 45 years, many beautiful memories will be cherished by her children, Robert McLean Barrero and his wife, Heather, of Baltimore, Md. and Moka Barrero Quinlan and her husband, Christopher, of Tokyo, Japan. She was deeply loved by her two granddaughters, Aisling and Teagan Quinlan. She is also survived by one sister, Mary McLean Boully of Hilton Head, S.C.; one brother, Malcolm Wallace McLean, of New York, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. A Memorial Mass was celebrated in Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford, CT. The Reverend Charles Allen, SJ officiated.
