Robert “Bob” Ralph Asher
June 10, 1938 - June 11, 2018 Robert “Bob” Ralph Asher, 80, of Corbin passed away Monday, June 11, 2018. Born June 10, 1938, he was the son of the late Shelby Asher, Sr., and Bernice Morgan Asher.

A devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather, he was also a U.S. Navy veteran, a Kentucky Colonel, a farmer, and a mentor. His work career in steel construction spanned many years.

In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by his wife of almost 57 years, Iva Glenn Tweed Asher, on November 8, 2015; by one son, Robert Glenn Asher; by a nephew (raised as a son), Robert Charles Durham; by his granddaughter, Ashley Lynn Petrey Walters; by a baby brother, Jimmy Dale Asher; by a sister, Christine Durham; and by two brothers-in-law: Larry Clemons and Larry Chapel.

He leaves behind his loving family: daughter, Carol Lynn Asher; five nephews (raised as sons): James T. Durham, Shelby Dwight Durham, Jeffrey Allen Durham, William Frank Durham, and Charles Morgan; three granddaughters: Latessa Rose Petrey, Kalley Ann Petrey, and Christina Petrey; three great granddaughters: Chelbie Rivae’ Petrey, Alexia Paige Petrey, and Kyrie Grace Walters; siblings: Norma Jean Clemons, Joyce Chapel, Joanne Thomas, Shelby Wayne Asher, Jr., and Edith Carol Ely; and sister-in-law, Betty Tweed Mosley. He is also survived by a special friend, Lois Neal; and numerous other friends and family. He will be sorely missed.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, June 15, 2018, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Anderson and Larry Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery with rites by the D.A.V. Chapter 158.
