Gladys R. (Cambra) Benevides, 71 ,of 300 Lincoln Ave. North Dighton, formally of Main St. Dighton, died Saturday June 15, 1985 after a long illness. She was the widow of William F. Benevides.
Born in Dighton, a daughter of the late Frank P. and the late Mary (Perry) Cambra, she was a housewife most of her life. She also helped her husband operate the former Benevides Market on Main Street Dighton, for many years she was employed at Swank Inc Taunton, for a short time.
She was a member of St Peter’s Parish, Dighton, the Dighton Senior Citizens and Dighton Council on Aging.
She is survived by five sons, William F. of Seekonk, Louis M. and John F. both of Sebring Fla; Robert F. of Hallandale, Fla, and Edward F. of Taunton; four daughters Mary E. Sylvia of Hollywood Fla. Mrs. John (Antoinette) Gley of Mystic Conn, Mrs. Gary (Gladys A. ) Mitchell of North Dighton, and Mrs. Daniel (Joyce M. Moore of Somerset.
Also surviving are a brother, Frank Cambra of Dighton; eight sisters, Clara Gouveia, Florence Moitoza and Mrs Tilman (Elsie) Griffith, all of Taunton, Wilhelmina Moitoza of North Dighton, Mrs Louis (Louise) Catabia, Mrs George (Dorothy) Catabia and Rose Tavers, al of Dighton, and Mary Cunha of Spring Hill Fla; 18 grandchildren, a great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral from Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway at St Mary Square with funeral Mass at St Peter’s Church North Dighton. Interment in St Patrick’s Cemetery Somerset MA.
