Charlene Yvonne Bathurst of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died early Saturday morning, April 15, 2017, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home at the age of 86 years.

Charlene Yvonne Bathurst was born on January 26, 1931, in Jet, Oklahoma, to Charles Daniel and Lois Edda(Dunsworth) Castle. She attended Jet Public Schools and graduated in the late 1940’s. She married Harry Elmore Bathurst on December 26, 1950, Enid, Oklahoma. She was a farmer’s wife; delivering lunches to the fields, driving seed trucks and tractors and helping work livestock. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Home Demonstration Club, Kay County Election Board, Jaycee Janes and Beta Sigma Phi. She was active in the First United Methodist Church, including the Friendship Class. She enjoyed sewing, embroidering, needle point and dancing with her husband. Elmore and Charlene traveled the world, visiting all the continents except Antarctica. They especially enjoyed spending winters in Mexico.

She is survived by her husband, Elmore Bathurst of Blackwell; two daughters, Sherrie Ann Ishmael and husband Rex of Stillwater, and Elaine McKinney and husband Doug of Blackwell; one son, Daniel Bathurst of Blackwell; three brothers, L. E. Castle of Jet, Elmo Castle of Garber, and Richard Castle of Jet; five grandchildren, Jason Smith of Edmond, Amy Goodpasture of Lakewood, Colorado, Shannon Dark of Braman, Ryan Ishmael of Monument Colorado, and Brady Smith of Tulsa; and twenty-six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Vernon Castle; and two sisters, Vivian Yoder and Zola Evans.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 18th at the First United Methodist Church, Blackwell, Oklahoma, with Rev. Cap McIlnay, First United Methodist Church officiating.

Honorary bearers will be Gene Skroh, Terry Dietrick, Jason Smith, Ryan Ishmael, Brady Smith, Sean Goodpasture, Eric Dark and Phil Green.

A memorial in her honor has been established with the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 West Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
