Mary Aline Yancy Adams, “Mamaline,” of Ida, Louisiana, went home to the Lord on April 14, 2018, in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was 96. Widowed at 22 with an infant son, she would go on to journey 26,617 days without the love of her life, World War II Ace Fighter Pilot Captain Fletcher Eugene Adams. She accepted Christ and was baptized at the age of six at Ida Baptist Church. She attended church there throughout the years and it is where her letter remained until her passing. Aline was a permanent Ida resident where she raised her son Gerald Loyd Adams, “Jerry,” amongst the affection of both the Adams and Yancy families. She was a humble caretaker, placing her devotion, energy, thoughts and concerns through the years on serving loved ones. Aline played a primary role as caretaker during the final years of her father, mother, and brother Barney’s lives. However, her foundational life’s mission was to provide unconditional love, grace, support, and attention to her deserving son “Jerry.” To say that she succeeded in that endeavor is an understatement. “Mamaline” was a Christian, always in good health, selfless, independent, content, joyful, and an easy-going presence to be around.

Preceding her in death is her husband, Captain Fletcher Eugene Adams, in-laws Noel Loyd Adams, Sr., and Blanche Louise Shaw Adams, parents, John Otis Yancy and Mary Lee Pool Yancy, and siblings James Fred Yancy, Charlie Raymond Yancy, Walter Iron Yancy, Barney Lee Yancy, John David Yancy, Willie Mae Yancy Walker, Lillian Doris Yancy George, and John Burney “Nub” Yancy.

She is survived by her son “Jerry” and his wife Dottye of Mooringsport, Louisiana, grandchildren Gerald Loyd Adams, Jr. of Shreveport, Louisiana, Jason Fletcher Adams and wife Jolie of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Casey Anne Portillo and husband Jose of Celina, Texas, and great grandchildren Elsie Jane, Lillian Aline and Scarlett Adams and Mateo and Santiago Portillo.

Services for Aline will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at the Means Center in Ida, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 10:30 am, with a memorial service at 11 am, followed by the graveside at Bethsaida Cemetery.
