Mary Louise Stanley Andrews, loving wife and mother, passed away quickly on Sunday morning from complications of an extended illness.

Mary Lou, grew up in Wyandotte County, Kansas, and graduated from the University of Kansas in 1948. She married Bob Andrews, MD, on January 28, 1949. After helping Bob through medical school, they moved to Lumberton, NC, in 1957, where she raised her family and was an active and vital member of the community.

Mary Lou was an active volunteer in many civic activities in Lumberton, where she received several awards for her volunteerism.

One of her favorite endeavors was acting in plays, sponsored by the Robeson Little Theater. She starred in Mary-Mary, Don't Drink The Water and Any Wednesday. For the past 10 years of her life, Mary Louise's favorite passions were volunteering as a math tutor, at Magnolia Elementary School, and participating in the Ladies Fellowship Sunday School Class, of the First Baptist Church of Lumberton.

She was preceded in death by her father, the Hon. Arthur J. Stanley, Jr., Chief Federal Judge of Kansas, and her mother, Ruth Willis Stanley.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Andrews; her daughter, Kim Harsey of Mooresville, NC; her son, Richard Andrews of Tarboro, NC; a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Andrews of Tarboro, NC; her grandchildren, Richard Andrews, Jr., of Raleigh, NC, Elizabeth Andrews of Charleston, SC, Meg Andrews of Philadelphia, PA, Troy Harsey of Charlotte, NC and Andy Harsey of Cullowee, NC; her sisters, Susan Hoffman of Hampstead, NC, Connie Yunghans of Leavenworth, KA and Caroline Lane of Denver, CO.

Mary Lou will be remembered for her family, generosity, style and grace. She never met a stranger and touched the lives of many.

She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.

The memorial service will be Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at First Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Tim Little officiating.

The family will receive friends Monday, February 18, 2008 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc.
