Doris M. Girton, age 79 of Winchester, IN passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on Tuesday, April 3rd, after an extended illness.

Doris was born November 30, 1938 in Randolph County, Indiana, to Orville and Lois Tharp (Miller). On February 1, 1954 she married Kenneth Girton, and for the next 64 years they built a wonderful family and life together in Winchester, becoming extremely active members of the community.

Doris is survived by her husband Kenny, her children: Mike (Becky) and Randy (Angie), her sisters: Nina Bowers, Barbara Kelley and Joann Romack, grandchildren: Zach (Rikki), Anthony, Stephanie, and Erin, great-grandchildren: Kolin, Darian, Kenzley, Lennon, and Aiden, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her brothers Bill and Robert, daughter-In-law Daralee Dwiggins Girton, and grand-daughter Missy Girton.

Doris and Kenny owned and operated the Overpass Motel for more than 30 years. She spent 11 years of her retirement working at SilverTowne. Doris was also very active in the Winchester Friends Church and The Red Hats Society.

Doris was an amazing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to everyone who knew her. She was an extremely hard worker, who had a passion for helping others. She will be dearly missed by everyone whose life was fortunate enough to be touched by her.

A celebration of Doris’ life will be at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at the Walker Funeral Home in Winchester, with Ron and Pam Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at the Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester.

Friends and family may call from 4-8 p.m., on Friday, April 6th at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the Randolph County Cancer Society, 133 N. Meridian St., Winchester, IN 47394 or the Winchester Friends Church, 124 E. Washington St., Winchester, IN 47394, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
