Vander Schuur, Jay Calvin 12/23/1948 - 10/31/2017
Jay Calvin Vander Schuur, age 68, entered God's kingdom after losing his short battle with Leukemia on October 31, 2017 at Spectrum Health's Butterworth Hospital.

Jay was born on December 23, 1948 at Butterworth Hospital. He attended Unity Christian High School in Hudsonville. Jay loved the Southwest and horses.

Jay is preceded in death by his father, Harold Vander Schuur and survived by his mother, Margaret (Van Zalen) Vander Schuur. Jay is also survived by his son, Kelly (Marife) Vander Schuur, daughter Shawna Gutierrez, grandchildren, Alyssa Wiley, Jacob Vander Schuur, Codibrianne Gutierrez and Mariel Vander Schuur, brother, David (Jennifer) Vander Schuur, sisters, Suzanne (Kelly) Bauder, Esther (Doug) Glashower, Brenda Vander Schuur and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service for Jay will be held at Messiah Christian Reformed Church, 2900 Springdale St., Hudsonville, MI 49426 at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday Nov. 7, 2017. There will be a visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. There will also be a time of fellowship in the lower level of the church immediately after the service.
