Robert George Wells Mikels, Jr. died December 17, 2005 in Dade City, FL.

Born February 4, 1917 in Battle Ground, he had been a lifelong local resident, and spent the past 19 years wintering in Florida.

He married Donna Lucille Kirk in Lafayette on Sept. 10, 1938 and she survives. Mr. Mikels was an Industrial Engineer at Purdue University's Michael Golden Labs for 28 years until his retirement. He served in the Marine Corp. His hobbies were woodworking, playing golf and following Purdue sports.

Also surviving are three sons, William (wife Connie) Mikels of Battle Ground, Kenny (wife Cheryl) Mikels of Lafayette, and Jerry (wife Judy) Mikels, residents of Tennessee. Also surviving are two daughters, Rosalie (husband Ray) Gray of Delphi, and Marilyn (husband Robert) Taylor, residents of Florida. Mr. Mikels is survived by two sisters, Florence (husband Ike) Denny of Logan, IN and Eva (husband Glenn) Hamilton of West Point, and two brothers, Paul (wife Mary) Mikels, Florida and Don Mikels of Lafayette.

Mr. Mikels is survived by 19 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert George Wells and Avah Barnard Mikels, Sr, and a daughter Shirley Pattengale, along with 6 brothers and one sister.
