"DIED---In the service of his country at Point Isabel, Texas, Nov. 13th, Asa H. Sawyer, oldest son of Betsey T. and John C. Sawyer, of Atkinson, after a sickness of three days, with typhoid fever, aged 23 years."

In the Western Cemetery -- A. H. Sawyer - H, 15th [Portland Soldiers and Sailors 1884]. (Stone possibly Able Hargrove Sawyer or a memorial stone for Asa)

Died in service - 1863: Asa H. Sawyer. ["The Story of the Fifteenth" Appx A, pg 17]
[The 15th landed at Brazos Santiago Island on Nov. 2, 1863 and left Brazos Santiago Island Nov. 15 for Mustang Island]
