Paul Edward Curry, 75, of Chattaroy, West Virginia, passed away on March 2, 2018, in the comfort of his home and surrounded by his family.

Born March 24, 1942, at Nolan, Mingo County, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Landon and Lora Cassidy Curry.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Tommy, Roy, Clyde, and Bill Curry; a sister, Goldie Perry; a brother-in-law, Thurman Perry; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Curry.

Paul was a retired locomotive engineer with 38 years of service with the Norfolk and Southern Railroad. He thoroughly enjoyed his life’s work, and the friendships he built with his co-workers.

Paul was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Mary, and father to his girls. His life revolved around his family and there was no end to the love he gave, or the sacrifices he was willing to make for the happiness and welfare of his family. He deeply loved his grandchildren, brothers, sister, in-laws, nieces, and nephews. That love was returned to him in full measure.

Paul was a dedicated member of the Chattaroy Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a member of the Board of Deacons. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, and the Mingo-Pike Car Club. It seems that Paul and his brothers were born with an innate love of automobiles; especially the love of car restoration, a favorite pastime. Paul was an excellent and creative builder. He enjoyed carpentry work very much.

Paul lived his life to the fullest. He was blessed with the love of family, work that was enjoyable and fulfilling, the gifts and talents to pursue the hobbies that he enjoyed, and length of years to enjoy it all. He will be sorely missed by his family and community, and lovingly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Paul is survived by his loving wife and devoted companion of fifty-three years, Mary Matekovich Curry; three beloved daughters, Kellie (Glen) Conner, Lake Wylie, South Carolina, Stephanie (Brian) Daniel, Peytona, West Virginia, and Kathy (Daniel) Moore, Forest Hills, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Maddie Daniel, Daniel Moore and Isabella Moore; two brothers, Charles Curry, and Ray (Lucinda) Curry of Chattaroy, West Virginia; sister-in-law, Seigle Curry of Chattaroy; many wonderful nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends whose companionship he enjoyed throughout the years.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, March 5, 2018, at Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson, West Virginia. Interment followed at Mountain View Memory Gardens at Maher, West Virginia, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
