He was born in Nashville, TN the son of the late Ronald Lynn Porter and JoAnn Steck Porter. Al was affiliated with Planet Fun in Shallotte, he will be greatly missed. Surviving are his fiancée’ Teresa Hockett of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; his step-father, Stan Pierce and his wife, Jane Pierce; two brothers, Tim Porter of Ohio and Eric Porter of Vera Beach, FL; one grandchild. A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday April 25, 2015 at White Funeral and Cremation Service Shallotte Chapel.

NEWSPAPER ARTICLE: An Ocean Isle Beach man died after he lost control of his motorcycle and struck a tree along Bricklanding Road on April 17. Forty-four-year-old Al Porter of East Long Acres Road was pronounced dead on the scene after his motorcycle struck a tree around a sharp curve near Bricklanding Road and Goose Lane, deputy coroner Dave Crocker said. Crocker said the weather was a possible cause as the area experienced heavy rain throughout the day of Porter’s death.
