Viewing for Edith Joan Brooks will be held Sunday, March 4, 2018, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home.

A burial with her family will be held Monday, March 5, 2018, at 9:30 a.m. in the Frisco Cemetery in Yukon. Memorial services will be held Monday, March 5, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in El Reno with Rev. Larry Holder officiating. Services are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Brooks passed away Feb. 22, 2018, in El Reno at the age of 100. She was born Oct. 1, 1917, in Richland to Roy and Maude (Blakeburn) Halbert.

Joan was a graduate of Yukon High School and a member of Bible Baptist Church and former member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.

Joan married Kermit Scott Sr. on Oct. 25, 1940. They were married for 53 years. Joan and Clarence Brooks were married 11 years.

Joan loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to sew. She could make anything - prom dresses, bridesmaids dresses. She made her son a shirt in one evening and made her own clothes.

She was a good cook. One of the grandsons remembers her chicken and noodles.

Joan was very involved in her church, vacation Bible school, church camps, played the piano and sang in the choir. She did mission trips with her grandsons which she truly loved.

She was a homemaker and farmed with her husband, Kermit Scott Sr. They traveled around the United States and took a trip to Europe.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Kermit Scott Sr.; second husband, Clarence Brooks; brothers, Dale and Ward Halbert; sisters, Ethel Baker and Roberta Rush; and granddaughter, Judy Scott.

Survivors include her son, Kermit Scott Jr. and wife, Marvellena of Okarche; daughter, Pat Steffen and husband, Ray of Antigo, Wis.; grandchildren, April Owens and David Scott and wife, Wendy, all of Okarche, LaDonna Attebery and husband, Curtis, and Krista Schwarz and husband, Doug of Oklahoma City, Jeff Steffen and wife, Jenne of Oshkosh, Wis., Brian Steffen and wife, Nancy of Redding, Calif., Phil Steffen and wife, Cindi of Greenwich, N.Y., and Wes Steffen and wife, Carrie of Wausau, Wis.; 24 great-grandchildren, Paige, Jade and Madison Owens, Kyndra and Carter Scott, Carson, Cooper and Taylor Attebery, Jarrett, Ethan and Tyler Schwarz, Obadiah, Jonathan, Caleb, Meredith, Audrey, Gus, Asher, Hadden, Beth, Easton, Asa, Emmeline and Sarah Steffen; and other relatives and friends.
