Orville O. Humphrey, 86, of Zanesville, died at 11:15 p.m. Sunday April 1, 2007 at Cedar Hill Care Center. He was born December 16, 1920, in Zanesville, a son of the late Samuel and Sarah Sowards Humphrey. Orville was a faithful 55 year member of First Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon and Trustee for many years. He was a graduate of Lash High School Class of 1938. He retired after 33 years of service at The Burnham Corporation and served his country as a U.S. Marine in World War II . Orville was a nationally recognized High School football athlete who remained an avid fan throughout his life. Surviving are his loving wife, Marilyn Maxwell Humphrey, whom he married December 21, 1946, of the home; a daughter, Kimberly Sue(Douglas)Gabriel of Zanesville; a son, Randall L.(Marilyn)Humphrey of Zanesville; six grandchildren, Eric(Kirsten)Dodson, Chad(Tracy)Gabriel, Benjamin Gabriel, Renae(Randy)Church, Travis Humphrey and Tony(Lisa)Humphrey; nine great grandchildren, Blake, Olivia, Grant, Hunter, Cody, Tiffani, Marshall, Anthony and Brittany. Many nieces and nephews and a wonderful church family and a very special friend, Jim Shrigley. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Roni Dodson,; six sisters, Rowena Merritt, Pearl Kirkbride, Leora Trout, Lucille McElroy, Hesther Smith and Cressie Rowland; three brothers, Lewis, Madison and Burl Humphrey.
