William Jasper Lancaster was born in Blue Mountain Township, Izard County, Arkansas to Nancy Jane Prim amd Perrin Wayne Lancaster who also was a Civil War Veteran of the Confederate States Army. William married Mary Ann Armstrong 14 July 1872 at Mountain View Stone County, AR. He is the brother of Mrs. Tempy Lancaster Morrison, Helen Jettie Lancaster Brown and Perrin Newton Lancaster

William Jasper served for the Confederate 8th Arkansas Infantry Company G. He enlisted on September 1, 1861 at Riggsville, Stone, Co., Arkansas and he served for 4 years. He was captured at Chickamunge Georgia on September 22, 1863. Sept 30, 1863 he arrived at Louisville, Kentucky having been sent there from Nashville, TN., to be inprisoned. From ther he was sent to Camp Douglas in Chicago, Illinois on October 2, 1863 and discharged at Camp Douglas on June 14, 1865 in accordance with the General Orders No. 109. The officers that he served under were Captain Witt, 1st Lieutenant Beard, 2nd Lieutenant Orlet and Brigadier General Liddell.

On Dec. 16, 1862 at the battle of Murfreesboro, Tenn he was listed as having been slightly wounded in the face. Leaving him with an enjury to one eye.

After his death his wife Mary Ann Lancaster received a Civil War Widow's Pension for his service in the Confederate States Army and the injury he sustained in battle.

William served the Confederate States Army from 1861 to 1865. After his release in prison he returned home by rail to Arkansas where he met and married Mary Ann Armstrong. Due to a fire their marriage record was destoyed. Their first 4 children were born in Arkansas, Eliza, Queen, Ethel, and Maude. William Andrew, Robert Perrin and Elza Lee were born in Bell County, Texas as well as Eula Jane.

William was a 33rd degree Mason of the Masonic Temple, possibly Blue Mountain Lodge #202 in Izard County, AR.

Stone County, Arkansas was founded in 1873 from Izard, Independence, Searcy and Van Buren counties. Blue Mountain, Sylamore and Richwoods Twps. were annexed to Stone County, Arkansas in 1873.
