He was born on Feb. 16, 1921, in Maplewood, to the late Wilbur and Mildred Brown Abbott.
On Oct. 20, 1946, he married Hazel J. Stringfield Abbott, who passed away in May 2000.
He is survived by two children, his daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Chet (Lynn) Tomasewski, of Strongsville, and son, Mr. and Mrs. David D. (Jan) Abbott, of Sidney; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one grandchild.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of Sidney American Legion Post No. 217 and a longtime member of Sidney First United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Piqua.
He retired from Stolle Corp. after 36 years of faithful service.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church of Piqua with the Rev. Dennis Millers and Pastor Scott Ocke officiating.
Burial will take place at Shelby Memory Gardens.
Friends may call Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road.
The American Legion will have a memorial service at 7 p.m. on Monday.
Donations may be made to Wilson Memorial Hospice, Grace United Methodist Church of Piqua or the Alpha Center in Sidney in Donald's memory.
