t Nelson Pettit, 79, of Knoxville, formerly of White County, passed away Feb. 10, 2018, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, in Knoxville.
Mr. Pettit was born March 21, 1938, in Doyle, to Thomas Wayne Pettit and Vica Ree McCormick Pettit.
He had a work career that spanned from being an electrical engineer to a sales manager for American General Insurance. Mr. Pettit was an avid outdoorsmen, loving to camp and water ski, but his true joy came from serving his church. He was a member of Central Baptist Church, in Hixson, where served as a deacon, youth director, and R.A. director.
Mr. Pettit was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeffrey Cart Pettit; and brother; Thomas Wayne Pettit.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 57 years, Nancy Nabors Pettit, of Knoxville; son, Roger Nelson Pettit and wife Kristi, of Bartlett; grandchildren, Corey Nelson Pettit, of Chicago, Illinois, Chase Pettit, of Bartlett; and sisters, Linda Pettit, of Arizona, and Nancy Kosee and husband Jerry, of Old Hickory.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Feb. 15, 2018, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Jericho Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4-7 p.m. CST, Feb. 14, at the funeral home.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Hunter Funeral Home.
