Ellis Melvin Peterson, 91, a resident of Lehigh Acres since 1970, passed away March 9, 2007, at South Bay Hospital, Sun City Center, Florida. Ellis was born in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Otto and Marie Peterson. He was married to the love of his life Marion E. Schreiner on October 22, 1937. Ellis was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather. He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church and served on the original Building Committee for the church. Ellis was a member of the Mossaic Lodge #197 in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey where he served as Master in 1961 and as a Grand Officer for the State of New Jersey. He also served as a Grand Officer for the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 291, and as a Grand Patron and Patron, numerous times, of the Grand Amaranth Court #70 in Lehigh Acres, Florida. Ellis was further honored to receive his 33 Degree in 1987 in the Scottish Rite, Araba, Fort Myers, Florida, where he served in numerous offices. He was an officer and member of the Air Stream Travel Club where he and Marion had many wonderful memories of their travels with the club. Ellis is survived by his son LTC.
